Google Camo – Disabling Google Personalized Search Result

The Big G’s move in introducing their new world domination scheme is pretty hard to digest for us that practices SEO. Lets not talk about privacy anymore, because we all know its a thing of the past. The ups and downside is as follows:

  • As a normal user – “touchdown!”, “slam dunk!”, or “goallllll!”. Damn, Big G knows exactly what I wanted. Even if Big G is a fugly mom of eight, I’m ready for commitment.
  • As an SEO – this is {hell|nightmare|madness|sparta|(insert your own blasphemy here)}.

People like me, work real hard (or ’smart’?) to rank well in Google. Our effort, if done properly, can make Big G a big time bitch. Suddenly a competitor who doesn’t give any real concern about search marketing before, rank higher just because most people in the world didn’t have the technical awareness about cookies, privacy and stuff…

…like our work,

…and the thing that we use to buy cigar and pay for the big buddy in front of a strip club. We often hear people addressing it as money.

I can’t really rants about that can I?

Never fear, Google Camo is here. It is a Firefox plugin that can make traditional SEO like me (tracking sites using SERP’s) an ease of mind. But we just can’t urge the world to uses it right? Lets see how this unravels. But for now, Google Camo is an excellent tool for counter measure against Big G.

Easier explanation is, preventing Google Personalized Search to pop up.

I usually check SERPs ranking by the most traditional way, Google itself. Now, I wouldn’t want the search history that Google records on behalf of my account to disturb the ranking integrity right? :)
